Hey guys! I wanted to share the exciting news with you all that I’m officially in business, working for myself as a full-time portrait and wedding photographer! As many of you know, I’ve loved photography for as long as I can remember. I’ve been photographing others since 2010 mostly as a hobby, to earn a little experience and a little extra cash to help support my hobby. It wasn’t something I really wanted to do full-time. I was pretty content just doing it for fun while I worked at my other part-time jobs over the years.
Well, things changed last summer and through some different circumstances, I decided it was finally time to get ready to launch my business and quit just about everything else. Tears rolled down my face as my sweet husband said, “For years, you have supported me as I follow my dreams, and now it’s my turn to support you as you follow yours.” He even invested in my business and bought me a brand new computer! I have the best husband ever who constantly supports me, looks after me and is honest when I need honest feedback. And he’s behind me 100% as I venture off on this new adventure of working for myself.
So I began to take all of the steps I needed to take to get ready. It was a lot of work, and I still have a lot more to do, but I’m here and I’m in business! I’m only working a couple of very part-time jobs on the side now, but my main business is my photography. It’s been so wonderful to be working from home now, in my pajamas, with my cats, still working on the backend projects.
My biggest goal was to finally get my website published, and here it is! http://photographybykristinsmith.com is official live and while it’s not 100% complete, it’s enough for now! Every personality test I’ve taken shows that I am, without a doubt, a perfectionist. I mean, I could have told you that without the test. But anyway, the downside of being a perfectionist is that if I feel like I can’t do something right or perfectly, I either will start it and not finish it, or I won’t start it at all. So this has been a great challenge for me as I realize this, and I’m learning to overcome some of my perfectionist ways and just get things done, even if they aren’t 100% the way I wanted them. I can always change it later, but done is better than nothing! I’ve been knocking things off my to-do list and it feels so good!
So if you’re looking to have photos done, or if you know someone else that is, please check out my website, follow me on facebook and instagram. And let’s chat and see if I might be the right photographer for you!
Thanks for stopping by!
Kristin
